What is ScarWork?

ScarWork is a gentle, effective method for treating scar tissue — developed by Sharon Wheeler and taught worldwide. It uses specific, light touch techniques designed to regenerate mobility, improve appearance, and restore sensation in and around scars. Clients often report lasting change and emotional release, making ScarWork a powerful addition to your therapeutic toolkit.

Because the fascia of the body is continuous, without layers, connecting all structures, limbs, organs, etc together, it is inevitable that a scar in one part of the body, as it tensions the fascia that surrounds it, can and usually will create a cascade of disruption throughout the body, to a greater or lesser extent. Thus, you may experience pain or limited mobility in your left shoulder – would you naturally suspect that the scar on your right foot might be contributory?  Here at Body in Harmony Training, we teach our students to think ‘full body’, looking at compensation patterns and reduced mobility in the context of the scarring.

The essence of this is – if a client has moderate or severe (or sometimes even minor) scarring and associated adhesions, you as a therapist MUST address that issue to have any hope of permanently rebalancing the body and restoring normal structure.
