Our Story: A Life in Fascia, Teaching, and Healing
The story behind Body in Harmony Training.
Body in Harmony began as a hands-on therapy practice and evolved into a space for deeper learning, shared growth, and fascia-focused training. Founded by Jan Trewartha, our story is one of listening: to the body, to the tissue, and to what each client - and student - truly needs. Today, our in-person training is designed for manual and movement therapists, bodyworkers, and clinicians who want fascia-informed skills you can use immediately, helping you develop confidence, clarity, and connection in your therapeutic work.
Jan’s Background & Teaching Journey
Jan began working with the body over 30 years ago, combining structural, energetic, and emotional approaches long before fascia became a recognised field of study. Her early training included Massage, Aromatherapy, Energy Field Therapy, and Biomobility. She also, through self-healing, discovered the ability of the body to free itself of old patterning, which can lead to physical and emotional transformations. Many modalities teach fascial unwinding. Jan’s approach is rooted in her own long-term self-enquiry and clinical experience.
Discovering Sharon Wheeler’s ScarWork and BoneWork, and other work transformed her practice and enhanced her understanding Teaching these methods, combining them with Fascial Unwinding and Energy Field Therapy, and then witnessing the shift in her clients, led to a deep awareness of how the body works. Later she would find the world of fascia, realise that her work was all fascia-focused, and decide to create the British Fascia Symposium and, later, The Fascia Hub, both educational resources designed to enhance knowledge of this fascinating tissue in the UK and globally.
Jan has taught hundreds of therapists across from many modalities and continues to develop courses that honour both scientific knowledge and intuitive skill. She is known for her integrity, gentle humour, clear teaching style, and deep respect for the human body.
Jan is known for creating training spaces that are practical, respectful, and deeply embodied - supporting therapists to develop confidence in both hands-on skill and clinical judgement.
Why We Teach
At Body in Harmony, we believe:
- Learning should feel safe, inspiring, and spacious
- The best CPD meets you where you are - and takes you further
- Skill without presence is only half the work
- Fascia holds more than form - it carries story, memory, and emotion
Our courses are designed to help therapists not just “do more” - but to feel more, listen more, and trust more.
Whether you’re working with post-operative scars, chronic tension, or subtle energy shifts, our goal is to help you bring more sensitivity, confidence, and care into your practice.
