What Is ScarWork?

ScarWork is a light touch, fascia-based therapeutic approach developed by Sharon Wheeler (USA) that helps reduce restriction, tension and emotional holding in and around scars. It uses gentle three-dimensional techniques to reintegrate scar tissue into the fascial web, improving movement, sensation, and integration without force or pressure. Adhesions stick structures together that should not be stuck together, but ScarWork facilitates the ‘going home’ of tissue. Students learn how to follow the tissue and allow it to go home, which it will do, no matter how long ago the disruption to the tissues occurred.

Rather than ‘fixing’ scars, ScarWork invites the body to reconnect with its own innate ability to self heal

“The work is painless to receive, and the results can be remarkable — often improving appearance, mobility, function, and emotional connection.”
Jan Trewartha
